| Description | : | He married Elizabeth Swan 21 July 1812 in Rutherford Co., North Carolina. She was the daughter of Joseph and Keziah Porter Swan. They had eight children. The family was still living in North Carolina in 1840. By the time Samuel died they had moved to Walker Co., Georgia. The 1850 census shows the family living in the Taylor's Ridge Valley community. Following Samuel's death Elizabeth moved to Gilmer Co., Georgia to be closer to her other children and in the 1860 census is shown living there with daughters Darcus and Mary.
