Sam was born in Dillon County on May 1, 1926, and was predeceased in death by his wife Ann Schnibben McInnis, son Miles Murdock McInnis, brother, Edwin Lee McInnis, Jr., sister Violet McInnis McColl, sister, Delphine McInnis Wright, and brother, Miles Murdock McInnis. Read More	Samuel Parks McInnis, Sr., 90, Carolina Community, Little Rock, S.C. died Friday, December 2, 2016. A son of the late Edwin Lee McInnis, Sr., and Winnie Walters McInnis. Sam was born in Dillon County on May 1, 1926, and was predeceased in death by his wife Ann Schnibben McInnis, son Miles Murdock McInnis, brother, Edwin Lee McInnis, Jr., sister Violet McInnis McColl, sister, Delphine McInnis Wright, and brother, Miles Murdock McInnis. Sam farmed in the Carolina Section of Dillon County until retirement in 1995. He was a long life member of Carolina Presbyterian Church and served as Deacon, Elder, and Church Officer. A United States Army veteran of World War II, he served as a Sargent in the 275th Infantry Regiment, 70th Division. Fearing the war would end before he could get there, he left the Citadel after his first year, joined the army and served an 18 month tour of duty in Germany and France until the European Theatre war ended. An avid sportsman, Sam earlier enjoyed bird hunting out on the farm and fishing the Little Pee Dee River. When asked, he always said the quail were plentiful and the fish were biting. Outgoing and smiling, he made new friends everywhere he went and unconditionally helped anyone in need. Sam served as a second generation Trustee of Marlboro Electric Cooperative for 35 years. He served on the Board of Directors of The South Carolina Electric Cooperatives. He also served on the Board of Directors of Cee-Us Line Equipment Company. He helped form Parrish Mill Club Inc. on family property for the community to have a safe place to swim, pick nick, play tennis, and fish. He was a member of the Clio Aurora Lodge, a Shriner, longtime member of The Minutrn Cultural Society, and English Grocery Roundtable. Survivors include his sister Catherine Newton Hoffman (Kurt) of Peeskill, NY, daughter Kathy McInnis Dunlap (Gus) of Hartsville, S.C. and son Samuel Parks McInnis, Jr. (Patti) of Cilo, S.C., grandson Cal Dunlap (Meghan) of Charleston, S.C., grandson Samuel Parks McInnis, III of Wilmington, N.C., granddaughter Jamie McInnis Cox (Johnny Mac), of Dillon, S.C., granddaughter Annie Dunlap, of Hartsville, S.C. and granddaughter Caroline Dunlap Adams (Chad), of Darlington, S.C. The funeral will be Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 3pm at Carolina Presbyterian Church, Little Rock, S.C., and burial will follow in the Carolina Cemetery. A visitation reception will be afterwards in the Church fellowship hall. Memorials can be made to Carolina Presbyterian Church Cemetery in care of Jamie Smith, 3460 Highway 57 North, Little Rock, S.C. 29567. Kannaday Funeral Home in Dillon, SC is assisting the family.
