Though he had been ill of diabetes a long time, his death came with unexpected suddenness. Mrs. Peter Richling, at whose home he roomed, found him in a coma about 6 o'clock Sunday evening and immediately summoned a physician. Afterward he was taken to the hospital in the Hengstler ambulance, but he had been there less than an hour when death occurred. Funeral services were held for him Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at the Methodist church with the pastor, Rev. D.S. Bornemeier, officiating. Interment was made in Greenwood cemetery. Samuel Robert Gillogly was born in Savannah, Ill., June 7, 1860 and at death was 78 years, nine months and five days old. He came to Nebraska as a young man and in December, 1903 was married to Fanny Jane Neumann. Five children were born to this union, two of whom passed away in infancy. His wife preceded him in death Nov. 28, 1916. Four sisters and two brothers also preceded him in death, he being the last member of a family of seven. He leaves to mourn his passing two sons and a daughter, Vernon Gillogly of Omaha, Glenn Gillogly of Creighton and Mrs. Ben Hinzmann of Woodland, Wash., nine grandchildren and a host of friends and acquaintances.
