| Description | : | From Caldwell's Atlas of Adams County Ohio, Published in 1880. Samuel Starrett came to Adams County at an early date, perhaps as early as 1794 or 95. While prospecting the country, he became acquainted with and married Mary Shoemaker, daughter of Peter Shoemaker, who then lived on Ohio Brush Creek, some two miles below the Fristoe Bridge, near Jacksonville, on the farm that now belongs to Robert Sproull.
