Description	:	Monticello Express January 26, 1928 Samuel Sulzner Passes. Samuel Sulzer, an aged and respected resident of Monticello, died suddenly Sunday evening. His death was caused by an attack of heart trouble. Mr. Sulzner was born in Canton, Bern, Switzerland, May 23, 1851. He attended the public schools of his native country and received his religious training in the Reformed church of which he has been an active member throughout his life. Read More	Monticello Express January 26, 1928 Samuel Sulzner Passes. Samuel Sulzer, an aged and respected resident of Monticello, died suddenly Sunday evening. His death was caused by an attack of heart trouble. Mr. Sulzner was born in Canton, Bern, Switzerland, May 23, 1851. He attended the public schools of his native country and received his religious training in the Reformed church of which he has been an active member throughout his life. While still a resident of Switzerland he received training as a shoe cobbler. He abandoned this trade when he came to the United States, and engaged in the vocation of farming. He was united in marriage to Magdalena Gehret in 1876. In 1886 the family emigrated to the United States and made their new home on a farm four miles northwest of Monticello in Lovell township, Mr. Sulzner continued in active farm work until 1916, when he removed to his present home in Monticello to spend his remaining years. Soon after Mr. and Mrs. Sulzner came to this community they united with the Reformed church. He served as an elder of the church for some time. He is survived by his wife and nine children. A daughter, Emma, and a son, Carl, preceded their father in death. The surviving children are: Bernhard Sulzner of Mechanicsville; Mrs. Alfred Meier and Mrs. Bertha Kaufman of Monticello; Mrs. Jake Meyer, Mrs. Clarence Orcutt and Mrs. Lester Appleby of Hopkinton; Mrs. Sam Broneman and Mrs. Ammeter of Coggon, and Sam Sulzner of South Dakota; also forty-five grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. The funeral services were held at the Reformed church yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock. They were in charge of Rev. Roland P. Kuentzel. Burial was made at Oakwood cemetery.
