U. B. church with the Rev. Alexander officiating. Mr. Hanen, for many years a resident of the Oakdale community, died at the Tilden hospital. Glen Stauffer, grandson of Mr. Hanen, sang "The Lord's Prayer" and "Beyond the Sunset." He was accompanied by Miss Joan Gast. Pallbearers were Merle Evans, George Daughhetee, T. H. Hayes, Harry Cooper, Roy Ofe and Ed Markley. Burial was made at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Neligh. Samuel Thomas Hanen was born February 25, 1867 at St. Ann, Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tobias Hanen. He passed away at the Tilden hospital, August 13, 1953 at the age of 87. He was married to Emma Lyon in 1888 [1889] at Madison and they spent most of their life in Madison County. They later moved to Antelope County. He was a member of the United Brethren church. He has two daughters, Mrs. Zella McCartney and Mrs. Edna Lakey of Los Angeles, California; four sons, Seth of Hillsboro, Oregon, Cliff of Cornelius, Oregon, Elmer of Meadow Grove and Oliver of Fremont; two sisters, Mrs. Dora McDaniel and Mrs. Goldie Peterson and one brother, Elwal; 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
