Description	:	Samuel was the son of Isaac and Lucinda (Peffley) Barnhart. He was born in 1872 near Centropolis in Franklin County, Kansas after his parents, recently married, moved from near Roann, Indiana in 1866. They subsequently moved near Egeland, Towner County North Dakota in 1898, and to Wenatchee, Washington in a migration of the Church of the Brethren, in 1911. Whether Samuel moved directly from North Dakota to the Kirkland area or moved to Wenatchee with the family and then to Kirkland is speculation. He was born in 1872 near Centropolis in Franklin County, Kansas after his parents, recently married, moved from near Roann, Indiana in 1866. The fact is that he was killed soon after the family had moved to Washington. He was killed in a logging camp accident when he was forty years old. His widow was Lillie Mabel Shadd. He left a son, Edward Earl (or Freddie Merle) Barnhart who was born in Ottawa Kansas (31 May 1899- 13 Apr 1900), and three daughters who were born in North Dakota, Alpha, 1901-____ m. R.J. Templin; Bertha Helen, 27 Mar 1905-Aug 1986) m1 Frank Beseda, m2 Earl Cain, m3 Dover; Edna Lee, 6 Aug 1908-21 Jul 1970 m1 Charles Anderson, m2 Stanley Prout. He was originally buried in Bellevue Pioneer Cemetery which is now defunct. There was a big marker in the cemetery. In 1965 the top of his tombstone was gone and the base was the only part still there. His remains and stone were removed to a private plot in Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue.
