He was stricken a short time earlier and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Jefferson County Hospital. Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral Chapel in Batavia with the Rev. Robert Cumings presiding. Burial will be in the Batavia Cemetery. He was married to Mernie (sic - Vernie) MARING March 15, 1909. She preceded him in death in 1970. KITCHEN is survived by five sons and four daughters: Paul KITCHEN, Fairfield; Samuel KITCHEN Jr., Fairfield; Gerald KITCHEN, Batavia; Donald KITCHEN, Brighton; Carroll KITCHEN, LaHarpe, Ill.; Mrs. Neva STEFFENSMEIER, Oakdale; Mrs. Kathryn DUNCAN, Hillsboro; Mrs. Geraldine PEEBLER, Batavia, and Mrs. Barbara MELTON, Fairfield. One brother, Alvie P. KITCHEN, Fairview, Ill., also survives. Two daughters, one son, four brothers and one sister are deceased.
