Description	:	Sandra Lynn Stephens, 56, of rural Aliceville, passed away early Friday morning, April 28, 2017, at Sunset Manor in Waverly, after a long battle with cancer. She was born December 6, 1960, at Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Harold Paul and Leora May “Lee” (Anschutz) True. Read More	Sandra Lynn Stephens, 56, of rural Aliceville, passed away early Friday morning, April 28, 2017, at Sunset Manor in Waverly, after a long battle with cancer. She was born December 6, 1960, at Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Harold Paul and Leora May “Lee” (Anschutz) True. She grew up on the family farm and attended Aliceville School through the fourth grade. She then attended LeRoy schools, graduating from LeRoy High School as Salutatorian of the Class of 1979. She went on to earn an Associate’s degree in business from Allen County Community College in 1981. Sandy worked as a Legal Secretary for the Forbes Law Office and Joy Law Office in Burlington for 36 years. She enjoyed her work and her Neosho Street friends, and was noted for her income tax knowledge. On September 27, 1980, she was married to John Michael Stephens at St. John Lutheran Church in Aliceville. They were the parents of three children, Adam Michael, Kristin Michelle, and Taylor Lynn. They made their home in Colony for several years, then moved to their farm home northwest of Aliceville. Her family was the joy of her life, and she rarely missed any of her children’s events and activities, or any family trips to Branson and Silver Dollar City. She was a dyed-in-the-wool fan of KU Basketball, and she enjoyed collecting frogs, cardinals and anything with a Jayhawk on it. Sandy was a devoted member of St. John Lutheran Church in Aliceville and had been very active in the Church throughout her life. She volunteered countless hours to ECKAN and more recently had been a member of the Coffey County Cancer Support Group. She was a selfless person, with a servant’s spirit, always putting others’ needs before her own. Her kindness and humor brightened the days of those around her. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold True, on April 22, 2014. She is survived by her mother, Lee True, of rural Aliceville; her husband, John Michael Stephens of the home; son Adam Stephens and his wife Shannon of Greenwood, Indiana; daughters Kristin and Taylor Stephens of rural Aliceville; her sisters, Lisa Falls and husband Les, and Brenda Ludolph and husband Chad, all of LeRoy; her nieces and nephews, Briane Birk and husband Dane, Brogan and Braelyn Falls, and Chyler and Chonnor Ludolph; her great nieces Britlee and Braxtyn Birk; her dear friends and “honorary” family members, Jodi Bahr and Lana Harmon; and many other relatives and good friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 1, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church in Aliceville, with burial following at St. John Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday evening, April 30, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
