Mrs. Ward was born on June 30, 1944 in Charleston, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Earl R. and Emma Ray Vaught. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ward is survived by two daughters, Wendy W. Nobles and Amy W. Mrs. Ward was born on June 30, 1944 in Charleston, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Earl R. and Emma Ray Vaught. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ward is survived by two daughters, Wendy W. Nobles and Amy W. Thompson, both of Aynor; four sons, Ken Ward, Jr., Earl Ward, both of Aynor, John and Dylan of the home; a God-son, Tracy Skeen and one special son-in-law, Gregory Nobles; eight grandchildren, Brandon Nobles, Amanda "Crickette" Nobles, Jake Thompson, Max Thompson, Nolan Thompson, Landon Ward, Lance Slocum, and Amanda "Tuti" Azzarella; one great grandchild, Emma Grace; one sister, Sherry Dawsey and her husband Charles; three brothers-in-law, Bill and Shelva Jean Ward, Bob and Liz Ward, and Larry and Lib Ward; many special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Ward will always be remembered for her loving spirit, her devotion to her family and her dedication to those in need, especially children. She was a woman with infinite love and compassion who devoted her life to the care of others. She nurtured and enveloped many, many foster children with neverending love, giving them the opportunity to experience a mother's love. She was a 1962 graduate of Aynor High School and a member of the Aynor United Methodist Church. She spent many years operating a children's daycare in her home. She worked for the Horry County School District as a special aide to children for several years while she continued to be a foster mother for more than 30 years. She furthered her dedication to children by serving on the Horry County Foster Parent Advisory Board to be the voice of children in need. Services will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 4:00 PM from Aynor United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennis Mardis officiating. Burial will follow in the Aynor Cemetery directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Horry County Shelter Home, 1872 Hwy. 90, Conway, SC 29526.
