Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Sara was the daughter of James Marion Bryson, Jr. and Helen Bobo Bryson. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Sara received her Bachelor of Arts Degree and Masters of Librarianship. She worked as a librarian in local schools and became a coordinator of library and media services for Greenwood School District 50 before retiring to raise her children. Read More	*Sara Bryson Smith, 65, of Greenwood, South Carolina, wife of William Theodore "Tedd" Smith, passed away on Friday, February 3, at her home. Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Sara was the daughter of James Marion Bryson, Jr. and Helen Bobo Bryson. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Sara received her Bachelor of Arts Degree and Masters of Librarianship. She worked as a librarian in local schools and became a coordinator of library and media services for Greenwood School District 50 before retiring to raise her children. For decades she was an active volunteer in the community. Sara was involved in Girl Scouts for many years. She was a member of the Greenwood Rose Garden Club and was active in the Greenwood Women's Club. Her passion for reading was evident through her involvement with the Greenwood County Library, where she served as Chair of the Board of Trustees for over twenty years. She was instrumental in the planning, funding, and construction of the new library facility opened in downtown Greenwood in 2010. Sara was an active member and most passionate in her service to First Presbyterian Church of Greenwood in a variety of capacities. She was an Elder and served and chaired many committees, including Christian Education, Scholarship, Endowment, and Visitation. She was a longtime member and frequent teacher of the Sojourners Sunday School class, and she implemented the Disciple class at the church and facilitated many lessons. Sara was also a member of her beloved Circle #4 group, and she was a Stephen Minister. In 2011, she received the distinguished Honorary Lifetime Membership as a Presbyterian Woman. Sara was predeceased by her father. A burial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Oakbrook Memorial Park. Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kyle D. Hite officiating. A reception to celebrate Sara's life will immediately follow the service. Blyth Funeral Home*
