Born Oct. 26, 1929 in Athens she was the daughter of the late Clarence Wayne & Goldie Lee Roach. Read More	Sara Lee Evans, age 84 of Athens died Sunday afternoon, Sept. 28, 2014 at Kimes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Athens. Born Oct. 26, 1929 in Athens she was the daughter of the late Clarence Wayne & Goldie Lee Roach. She was a 1947 graduate of Athens High School and a 1951 graduate of Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She married Griffith Herbert “Herb” Evans on June 30, 1956. She was a school teacher for over 30 years, teaching in Logan, Hollister, and the Athens City School System. She also assisted in the operation of Evans Candle Shoppe with her husband. She was a lifelong resident of Athens. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Athens, D.A.R., Pi Beta Phi, Athens Historical Society, the Green & White Club and the Bobcat Club. Sara is survived by her daughter & son in law, Sallie & Pete McKeand of Calgary, Alberta; a brother in law, Jerry (Martha) Evans of Winston Salem, N.C.; nieces and nephews- Mike Evans of Kearney, Neb., Diana Ferguson of Arlington, Texas, Pat McCrohan of Australia, James Roach of Colorado Springs, Colo, Eddie Evans and Jim Evans both of Athens. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Griffith Herbert Evans in 2007; two brothers- James & Lee Roach; a niece, Beth Roach; and a nephew, Bruce Roach. Funeral service will be conducted Thursday 1:00pm at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Rev. Wendy Lybarger officiating. Burial will be in West Union St. Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 4-7pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio University Athletic Department (Football Program), the American Heart Association (Ohio Valley Affiliate) or the Athens County Humane Society.
