Description	:	Sara McCoy Ayer "Coy" Patrick FURMAN, SC - Mrs. Sara MeCoy Ayer "Coy" Patrick, a native of Furman passed away February 12, 2014. She was the daughter of Thomas J. Ayer and Gertrude Youmans Ayer and sister to Josephine Ayer Cannon. As a young woman, she attended the prestigious Adventure Boarding School and graduated from Winthrop College. A life-long Methodist, Coy was a member of Calvary Methodist in Frederick, Maryland and United Methodist of Rockville, Maryland. In 1951, Coy and her first husband, William C. Read More	Sara McCoy Ayer "Coy" Patrick FURMAN, SC - Mrs. Sara MeCoy Ayer "Coy" Patrick, a native of Furman passed away February 12, 2014. She was the daughter of Thomas J. Ayer and Gertrude Youmans Ayer and sister to Josephine Ayer Cannon. As a young woman, she attended the prestigious Adventure Boarding School and graduated from Winthrop College. A life-long Methodist, Coy was a member of Calvary Methodist in Frederick, Maryland and United Methodist of Rockville, Maryland. In 1951, Coy and her first husband, William C. Patrick, moved to Frederick, Maryland where he worked at Fort Detrick. She later completed her Master's Degree in Social Work at the University of Maryland. Coy worked at Hood College as the Placement Director and for twenty-seven years as a Psychotherapist for children at Jewish Social Services of Washington. For many years, Coy also worked in private practice as a Psychotherapist. She and her second husband, Dutee L. Smith, were avid world travelers and enjoyed many activities together including sailing, tennis and bridge. She is survived by her devoted husband, Dutee; and loving sons, Mark and William Patrick. Her memorial service will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, 300 Mulberry Street West, Hampton, SC 29924 (803-943-3352). Burial will follow at Lawtonville Cemetery in Estill. Friends may call on Saturday prior to the service at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.
