Snodgrass, daughter of John A. and Lavina Leonard, was born in Davidson county, North Carolina, April 14, 1831, died June 14, 1887, aged 56 years, one month and twenty nine days. She moved with her parents to Hancock county, Indiana, October 29, 1836, where she has lived ever since, excepting the first few years of her married life, during which time she resided in Shelby county. Sarah A. Snodgrass, daughter of John A. and Lavina Leonard, was born in Davidson county, North Carolina, April 14, 1831, died June 14, 1887, aged 56 years, one month and twenty nine days. She moved with her parents to Hancock county, Indiana, October 29, 1836, where she has lived ever since, excepting the first few years of her married life, during which time she resided in Shelby county. She was married to Benjamin L. Snodgrass May 10, 1855. There were born unto them two sons and three daughters, of whom one son and two daughters, together with a step-son, remain to mourn her loss. She was a widow a little over ten years, her husband dying April 27, 1877. Her daughter died February 23, 1865, and her son October 30, 1878. She united with the Methodist Episcopal Church at the age of fourteen years, under the pastorage of Rev. Forbes, April, 1845, and has remained a faithful member ever since, teaching for quite a while, a class in the Sabbath School, and helping, as much as was in her power, to forward the good work of the blessed Master. She united with the Methodist Episcopal Church at this place in the winter of 1885, during a protracted meeting held by Rev. Albert Cain. She was the third child, second daughter, of a family of twelve children, five girls and seven boys. The mother and two brothers have gone before her. Though her father is old and feeble, he came and remained a faithful watcher by her bedside during the few days of her last illness. When asked if she was ready to go, though unable to speak, she made answer in the affirmative by nodding her head, and would [?] to show that she recognized her family and friends when they spoke to her. She was a kind and loving mother, never complaining even during her last brief but terrible sickness. She was a good citizen and neighbor, was loved by all who knew her, and will be sadly missed.
