Description	:	Alice Fletcher was born near Jefferson City, Missouri, March 11, 1874. She passed away at the home of her daughter, March 14, 1949, at the age of 75 years and 3 days. She had been in poor health just since December of 1948. She lived in Missouri until her marriage to John A. Witter, December 11, 1907. Then she made her home in Beaver Crossing. After her marriage she became a faithful member of... Read More	Alice Fletcher was born near Jefferson City, Missouri, March 11, 1874. She passed away at the home of her daughter, March 14, 1949, at the age of 75 years and 3 days. She had been in poor health just since December of 1948. She lived in Missouri until her marriage to John A. Witter, December 11, 1907. Then she made her home in Beaver Crossing. To this union was born one child, Lucille. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was baptized in the Baptist Church in Elston, Missouri. After her marriage she became a faithful member of the Christian Church here at Beaver Crossing. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and she held an office except for a year or two. She was honored by the Nebraska Grand Chapter in 1939 as a Grand Representative to the State of Colorado. She always thought of others before herself, even in the last days of her life. Her mother was cared for in her home for 26 years and she cared for her husband during the last years of his life when he was ill. Many times when she was thanked by her many friends for a kindness she had done she would answer, "I will only pass this way once and I want to do what I can for others as I pass." She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and husband. She is survived by her daughter Lucille Ideen, one grandson, Willard Dee, her son-in-law, Earl Ideen and an aunt and cousins in Missouri. Funeral services were held in the Christian Church Thursday, Rev. Robert Day officiating. Burial in the Beaver Crossing Cemetery. Attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Ideen, Raymond; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Ideen, Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Wheeler, Lincoln. Beaver Crossing Times, Beaver Crossing, NE, Thur, March 24, 1949.
