Sarah was married to Homer Judson Scott on November 13, 1872 in Linn County, Iowa. They were parents of Lydia Homer Scott whom married Edmund James Long and is buried Troy Mills, Iowa. He is buried in this cemetery. ~0bit~Several Iowa communities will mourn the loss of Mrs. Sarah Ann Peyton, of Dows, who died in the hospital at Hampton, Saturday morning October 27, at the age of 62 years, 9 months and 27 days. She was well known in Walker, Troy Mills and in Cedar Rapids where some of her children and grandchildren reside. She as a mother who lived to make her home a Heaven for the members of her children. She underwent an operation some months ago from which she was making rapid recovery. Last Thursday a new malady developd making a new operation necessary. She heroically submitted to the operation, but it failed to save her life. Sarah Ann Dudley was born in Linn County, Iowa, January 6, 1855. In 1873 she was married to Homer Scott ad to this marriage was born one child, Mrs. Lydia Long of Cedar Rapids. She was married the second time to William Henry Peyton in 1878 and to him a death call came six years ago. To Mr. and Mrs. Peyton were born six children, one of whom Ashley Melborn Peyton, died in infancy. The children still living are Mrs. Belle Gardner of Clarion; Jesse Chapman Peyton of Rowan, Iowa; Mrs. Nora Iehl; Ross Daniel Peyton and Mrs. Lydia Long of Cedar Rapids. There should be mentioned Anna Iehl who has made her home with her grandmother since early childhood. There also remains to mourn her loss, two brothers, William Charles Dudley and Arthur Martin Dudley, both of Linn County; twenty-two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Peyton with her husband and family mnoved to Dows in the spring of 1887 and there the family home has been ever since. In her home she was counted the best mother in all the world. Her life was thoroly consecrated to the task of making an ideal home. In this relationship her memory will always be loved and revered.
