NETTIE HAMILTON The death of Mrs. Nettie Hamilton occurred at her home in this city, Friday, morning after an illness of several weeks, and the funeral was held from the M. E. church, Sunday afternoon at 2:30, conducted, by the pastor, Rev. W. W. Hull. A large and sympathetic congregation filled the church, attesting the high personal esteem in which the deceased lady was held by her neighbors and friends who knew her best. The vicinity of the casket was a profusion of floral offerings from many loving hands and few have been the number of those taken from our midst where the loss has been more vividly a community loss. The sermon was from the 26th chapter of Matthew, "Even so come Lord Jesus" and the scripture reading the 77th Psalm. The chief songs were "Lead Kindly Light", "Face to Face" and "Abide With Me" by a mixed quartette composed of Mrs. Wm. Merrick, Miss Libby' Ryan, Wm. Horst and Joel Hanson. The interment was made in the family lot in Shelby by the side of her Husband. Nettie Burlingame was born in Warren County, Iowa, April 18, 1858. When a young woman she came to Nebraska with her parents. In 1883 she was united in marriage to Thos. L. Hamilton, and located on a farm near Silver Creek, Nebraska. In 1890, they moved to Laramie, Wyoming. Following the death of her husband in 1892 she came, back to Osceola, where she has since made her home. At an early age she joined the Methodist church and remained a faithful, willing member. She is survived by her children, Miss Ora Hamilton, Mrs. Albin Anderson, Vern Hamilton, and Mrs. F. T. Butz of this city and Frank Hamilton of Stockton, California, three sisters. Mrs. S. S. Alcox of Des Moines, Iowa, Mrs. Frank Corey of Los Angeles, California, Miss Eva Burlingame of Vancouver, Washington and one brother, F. L. Burlingame of White Salmon, Washington, also four grandchildren. Those present from a distance to attend the funeral, were: Frank Hamilton of Stockton, California, Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Daniels of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Hamilton of Fremont, Mrs. Emma Johnson and Mrs. Anna Johnson of Madison, Lloyd Johnson of Fremont, Miss Jessie Burlingame of Clay Center, Nebraska. A good Christian woman has gone out of the community, a mother who was a most worthy exemplar is no more and one of the community's most conspicuous exponents of patient perseverance and untiring efforts for loved ones both of her own household and for others has taken the final journey over the dark river to the final abode in the Eternal Kingdom, all of whose ways are ways of pleasantness and all of whose paths are peace. Sustained by a faith which did not falter and borne up by a hope sublime, the loved ones left behind have an example of a life so lived that the inspiration to them will be a continual comfort and an eternal beckoning to higher, ground.
