Sarah Ann Mitchell was born in Virginia on July 10, 1853 and departed this life on July 17, 1936 at the age of 83 years and seven days. Flora, 83 years of age, passed away on July 17 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G.W. Waldron, after an illness of several weeks. Sarah Ann Mitchell was born in Virginia on July 10, 1853 and departed this life on July 17, 1936 at the age of 83 years and seven days. All but the last twenty-nine years of her life she spent in the vicinity of Roanoke, Virginia. In the year 1874 she was united in marriage to James E. Flora, and to this union were born six children, all of whom are living. In the year 1907 she and her husband came to Nebraska, but the same year death called her husband and since that time she has made her home with her only daughter, Mrs. G.W. Waldron. In early life she united with the church of the Brethren and had been true to the teachings of her church, finding much comfort and help in the same. Grandma Flora was loved by all who knew her, and was a ray of encouragement to all who came in contact with her. Her trials and troubles were always hid by the smile and helping hand that she extended to others. One thing that she always requested was that no flowers be displayed at her funeral as she believed in boquets for the living, not the dead Surviving relatives are a sister, Mrs. Betty Solomon of Virginia, her one daughter, Mrs. G.W. Waldron and five sons, W.F. and E.G. Flora of Virginia, G.C. Flora of Concordia, Kansas, L.C. Flora of Omaha, Nebr., and P.C. Flora of Rogers, Nebr. There are also a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Waldron home, burial being at the Purple Cane cemetery near Rogers. Friends from out of town who were here to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Charley Troute, Mrs. Lillie Keller, Mrs. Garland Peters, all of Octavia; Mr. and Mrs. George McVicor, Mr. and Mrs. Sid Allen, Mrs. Price Peters, of North Bend; Mr. and Mrs. O.D. Funk of Rogers Mr. and Mrs. Campbell and Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Sheldon of Columbus. Silver Creek Sand, July 24, 1936
