Description	:	Sarah A. Hoyer, daughter of Geo. and Esther Saul, the oldest of a family of twelve, was born at Melbern, Williams county, Ohio, September 10, 1840, and departed this life on Sept. 29, 1916, aged 76 years and 19 days. She was united in marriage to Jacob Hoyer, Dec. 16, 1866, and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last December. To this union were born eight children, two dying in infancy, Charles died at the age of four years; the remaining five are living. She was converted and baptized at about the age of 14... Hoyer, daughter of Geo. and Esther Saul, the oldest of a family of twelve, was born at Melbern, Williams county, Ohio, September 10, 1840, and departed this life on Sept. 29, 1916, aged 76 years and 19 days. She was united in marriage to Jacob Hoyer, Dec. 16, 1866, and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last December. To this union were born eight children, two dying in infancy, Charles died at the age of four years; the remaining five are living. She was converted and baptized at about the age of 14 years, and joined the Evangelical Lutheran church, afterward, with her husband, united with the U.B. church in 1867. After moving from Ohio to Steuben county, Indiana, they united with the Mt. Zion class and was an active member for nearly thirty years, serving as president of the Ladies' Aid for seven years. Although afflicted for a number of years, she bore her suffering without a complaint, a firm believer in God and His power to save and keep. This husband has lost a life-long companion, the children a loving mother, the home will be vacant, the church an endearing member and the neighborhood a friend. She leaves to mourn, a husband, Jacob Hoyer, five children, Mrs. Ida Chapman, of Ashley; Mrs. Dora Sunday, of near Mt. Zion, Mrs. Pearl Wheaton, of near Angola; Hayes Hoyer, of the homestead; seventeen grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters, Leander Saul, of Salem township, John Saul, of Melbern, Ohio, Lyda Ritenhouse, Emma Parsch, Toledo, Ohio, Edward Saul, Clair, Mich. Funeral services were held at Mt. Zion church, Sunday at 2:30 p.m., Elder W.H. Franklin officiating. STEUBEN REPUBLICAN
