SARAH TEEPLE Passed Away Last Thursday Evening at Home of Her Daughter Last Thursday evening, March 16th, death claimed the life of one of our older citizens, that of Mrs. Sarah A. Teeple. Up to about four weeks before her death, she had been very active for a woman of her age and spent much time in making and in quilting beautiful quilts. She was taken very sick on the morning of February 19 and suffered intensely until the end. She was cared for in the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Johnson, where she had made her home for the past seven and one-half years. Mrs. Paul Schopbach of Beatrice, Neb., came to assist in her care for the last eleven days. Funeral services were held in the Hawarden Seventh Day Adventist church Saturday afternoon, March 18, with Elder W. R. Archbold in charge, assisted by the local pastor, Elder Bert Rhoads. The body was then taken to Lincoln, Neb., and a funeral service held in the College View Seventh Day Adventist church which was attended by a large gathering of the friends and relatives. This service was conducted by Elder W. A. Howe, who was the pastor in Hawarden some three years ago, assisted by the College View pastor, Elder E. L. Pingenot. She was laid in the family lot in the College View cemetery beside her husband. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Shopbach from Beatrice, Neb., and a brother-in-law, Elmer E. Teeple of Omaha, and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Johnson were other out of town relatives who attended the services at College View. Sarah Ann Vile was born to James and Alice Vile near Waukon, Iowa, May 18, 1858 and grew to womanhood on the home farm with the school advantages of the local rural school and one term at Battle Creek College at Battle Creek, Mich. On March 24, 1881 she was united in marriage with George L. Teeple and to this union three daughters were born, Mrs. Alice Johnson of Hawarden, Mrs. Nina Larkin of Laredo, Texas, and Mrs. Cordie Schopbach, who died in 1913. Mr. Teeple preceded her in death in 1925. The Teeple family moved from Waukon, Iowa, to Lincoln, Neb., in 1897 which was then a separate town, but is now a part of Lincoln. This continued to be her home until she came to make her home with her daughter in the fall of 1931. Mrs. Teeple was always of a quiet, home loving disposition and was often handicapped by severe sick spells, so was little known outside her own neighborhood, but she was ever ready and glad to help anyone in any way she could. She was an earnest Christian and sought to lead others to love the God in whom she trusted and upon whose love and mercy and wisdom she relied. In girlhood she joined the Seventh Day Adventist church and was a loyal member and regular attendant throughout life. She attended services the last afternoon before she was stricken. She is survived by two daughters, one grandson, three granddaughters and one great grandson, besides a goodly circle of friends who will miss her friendly ministrations and words of encouragement.
