She had suffered for some time with kidney trouble and last March was taken to Denver in the hopes of benefitting her health. Read More	Boone County Democrat May 21, 1909 Many sincere friends in Boone were inexpressibly shocked Friday morning by the sad news that Mrs. T.S. Herron had passed away at Denver, Colorado. She had suffered for some time with kidney trouble and last March was taken to Denver in the hopes of benefitting her health. She was having an enjoyable visit with her sisters there and appeared to be recovering her health until April 5th. When she was taken seriously ill, Mr. Herron was summoned at once to her bedside and remained until Tuesday of last week, when he returned to Boone leaving her much improved and everyone thought on the sure road to recovery, but Thursday evening, May 13th, without any warning to those about her she peacefully fell asleep quietly into death. Mr. Herron had gone out on his run early Friday morning, happy in the thought that his wife was regaining her health and would soon be with him again. The message announcing her death was handed to him as he stepped from his engine at Council Bluffs and came as a heavy blow to him. He immediately wired to Denver to have the body prepared and shipped to Boone. The remains arrived here on the noon train Saturday and were taken to the family home, 1207 Eighth Street. The funeral services were held from the home at 2:30 and from the M.E. church at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Hohanshelt and attended by many sorrowing relatives and friends, burial in East Linwood cemetery. Sarah C. Gillett was born in Boone County, March 22, 1859. She grew to young womanhood here and served four years as deputy county recorder under C.A. Ebersole and was highly esteemed by all who knew her. Oct. 13, 1886, she was married to Thomas S. Herron, and made this city her home until the time of her death. She early joined the Methodist church and remained a faithful member until her death. She will be deeply missed in church and social circles and her death is mourned by a wide circle of friends.
