Description	:	OBITUARY Mrs. Sarah Elsey was born Elsey in Pike Co. Ohio Jan. 15, 1819. She died October 1, 1902 at the home of her daughter Mrs. D.A. Minnich of Rising City, Nebraska. She had reached the ripe age of 82 years, 8 months and 16 days. Her maiden name was Sarah Callender. She was united in marriage to George W. Elsey on December 1, 1843. They moved from Ohio to Green Co. Wisc. in 1844, where three children were born, Mary, Jane and Susan. Then they moved to Allamakee Co. Iowa in 1849 where they got them a home... Read More	OBITUARY Mrs. Sarah Elsey was born Elsey in Pike Co. Ohio Jan. 15, 1819. She died October 1, 1902 at the home of her daughter Mrs. D.A. Minnich of Rising City, Nebraska. She had reached the ripe age of 82 years, 8 months and 16 days. Her maiden name was Sarah Callender. She was united in marriage to George W. Elsey on December 1, 1843. They moved from Ohio to Green Co. Wisc. in 1844, where three children were born, Mary, Jane and Susan. Then they moved to Allamakee Co. Iowa in 1849 where they got them a home where six children blessed their home. Elizabeth, Thomas, George, John, Isaac and Henry. They were one of the early settlers. In her earlier years her and her husband joined U.B. Church in Allamakee Co. Her husband who died Sept. 23, 1872 and three children Mary, Jane and John have gone to the home beyond. In 1880 she moved to Aurora Co. S.Dakota and took up a homestead of 160 acres and from there moved to Lake City, Iowa in 1888. Mrs. Elsey was well and favorable known to the people in the south part of the Lake City, Iowa where she had resided for about 12 years. Six children survive her to mourn the loss of a dear mother, Thomas, George, Isaac and Henry of Lake City, Iowa, Mrs. D.G. Glenn of Waukon, Iowa, Mrs. D. A. Minnich of Rising City, Nebr. with whom she had resided for about a year. A short time before she died she said my peace is made and I am ready to go. The funeral took place at 2 o'clock from the Christian Church in Rising City, Nebr., where her remains was laid to rest. Dearest mother thou has left us. Here thy loss we deeply feel. But tis God that has bereft us. He can all out sorrows heal. Yet again we hope to meet her when the day of life has fled then in heaven with Joy to greet her where no farewell tears are shed. We thank the many friends who so kindly assisted in caring for our dearly beloved mother duringher sickness and death. Written by Mrs. Susan Glenn her daughter
