Description	:	73 Y 1 Mo 7 D Sarah Collins was born October 25, 1828, in lower Canada. While yet a child her parents moved to New York state. In 1843 Sarah Collins and Abiather Kenison were united in marriage in New York state, where they resided until the early fifties, when they came west and located in Grundy county, Iowa. In 1843 Sarah Collins and Abiather Kenison were united in marriage in New York state, where they resided until the early fifties, when they came west and located in Grundy county, Iowa. After a residence there of nearly 20 years, Mr. and Mrs. Kenison came to Nebraska, arriving in Seward county June 18, 1872. Mr. Kenison took up a homestead 3 miles north and 6 miles west of Seward. On January 26, 1876, Mr. Kenison died. Their union was blessed with 13 children, 8 sons and 5 daughters; 7 sons and 3 daughters survive her. In 1880 Mrs. Kenison was again united in marriage to James Slawter. In the spring of 1882 Mr. Slawter met with an accident from the effects of which he died early in the fall of the same year. Until about 7 years ago Mrs. Slawter lived on the farm. After the marriage of her youngest daughter Mrs. Slawter sold her farm and moved to Staplehurst, where she lived about 5 years, her health gradually failing, she went to Scottsbluff and lived with her daughter, Mrs. Ernest. Although Mrs. Ernest left nothing undone that could be done to make the last days of her mother happy and comfortable, she soon tired of her new home and surroundings so in March 1901 she came back to Seward county and fixing up a little home in Ruby, she and Mrs. Pike, one of her daughters, have been living, at which place Mrs. Slawter died December 2, 1901, aged 71 years, 1 month and and 7 days. For 26 years Mrs. Slawter has been a devoted member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mrs. Slawter was a devoted wife, a loving mother and consistent Christian, thinking more about the welfare of others than herself. Owing to the incomplete condition of their church at Seward the funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Ruby, after which the remains were taken to Staplehurst and laid to rest in the family lot. Rev. Mr. Kite of the Mission at Lincoln conducted the services.
