Veach, daughter of Benjamin and Eliza Veach, was born in Marion County, West Virginia, March 25, 1840, departed this life January 20, 1924, at the advanced age of 83 years, nine months and 25 days. Veach, daughter of Benjamin and Eliza Veach, was born in Marion County, West Virginia, March 25, 1840, departed this life January 20, 1924, at the advanced age of 83 years, nine months and 25 days. She came to Iowa with her parents when but nine years of age in the spring of 1849. She was united in marriage with William T. Henderson in the summer of 1863. To this union eight children were born. The newly married couple made their home on their farm, one and a half miles south west of Numa, Iowa. December 1880, her husband preceded her in death and she bravely took up the task of managing the farm and rearing the seven children, which she successfully accomplished. The children were born to this union, one son, George, dying in infancy, and C. D. Henderson of Centerville; Mrs. F [ illegible] of Trenton, Missouri, Benjamin of Exline, Mrs. Eliza Dudley of Centerville, Lyman of Newman, Edward of Cincinnati and Mrs. Grace Brown of Williamsburg, survive their mother. Mrs. Henderson was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church of Centerville, Iowa, in girlhood and later transferred her membership to the Numa Methodist Episcopal Church. She was a faithful member of the church for many years. She resided on the farm near Numa since her marriage until her last illness, when she was taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.. K. Dudley. During her sickness she displayed Christian fortitude. She was taken ill in March 1923, and in May she had a stroke of paralysis and at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, January 20, she quietly departed to be with her Savior. 15 grandchildren and two brothers, F. M. Veach of Pasadena, California and B. E. Veach of Cincinnati, remain to mourn her departure. The Reverend Harvey E. Butler, pastor of the Numa Methodist Episcopal church conducted the funeral services from the Newman Methodist Episcopal Church January 22 at 2:30 p.m., It being the first funeral service held in the new church.
