In the 1895 Iowa State Census, Sarah stated that she was born in Jefferson County, Iowa. --------------- Transcribed below is a short news article, telling about a trip Sarah made to Jefferson County to visit her family, and it names Lina Matson, daughter of Elias and his second wife, as Sarah's half-sister. Her maiden name was Smith and fifty-nine years ago last September she was born in this township on a site which now belongs to the Jefferson county farm. She was indeed a pioneer of this community. Mrs. Sina [sic-should be Lina] Maston a half-sister of Mrs. Dunning is also here and a guest of the same parties.
