H., July 13, 1845 and died at Albion, Neb., Nov. 23, 1918. She was married to John S. Poor, Sep. 3, 1865. Seven children were born to this union. The oldest, a boy, died at the age of 3 years. The rest, 5 girls and 1 boy, with the aged husband, survive to mourn the loss of a wife and mother. The 3 daughters, who live here, were at the bedside of their mother when she passed away. Viola, who lives at Wayne, Neb., was not able to be present on account of sickness. Perley and Katie live in Oregon. The deceased, with her husband, came to this county March 1, 1879 and here they made their home ever since. They participated in all the experiences of pioneer life. They did their best in helping develop this county into the goodly land it is. Whenever there was any chance to do good and minister to the needs of neighbors and friends she did more than her part. As a result of all this, she made an unusual number of personal friends and not only was devoted to her family, neighbors and friends, but was in a marked degree devoted to her Lord and His church. In the fall of 1882, at the time of the first church work on Plum Creek, she united with the church in Roselma, and in all those 36 years she has been foremost and faithful in all church activities. Although so hard for her to walk in the last few years, you would always see her making her way slowly to the house of the Lord. While the younger ones ought to have gone to church, but did not, she said she would set the example as long as she could walk, and she did. For more than 10 years she has had the care of preparing the communion service. She never failed. Just as faithfully as she prepared the elements her husband spread them on the table as regular as the first day of the week rolled around. Surely she is one of those who are "Faithful unto death" to whom the Lord widd "Give a crown of life". On account of the Flu there could be no public funeral, so just before leaving the house Elder Houtz read a short lesson and made a prayer and Elder Poynter made a short talk to the family, with whom he has been so intimate for so many years. Just a few minutes before the sun went down her tired and worn body was laid to rest in Rose Hill, to await the coming of her Savior, Whom she served so faithfully. It is the intention, when conditions permit, to hold a suitable memorial service.
