Barber, the former Sarah Emily Hodgins, was born at Shawville, Que., on July 18, 1877 and on February 10, 1909 she was united in marriage to William T. Barber also of Shawville. Barber, the former Sarah Emily Hodgins, was born at Shawville, Que., on July 18, 1877 and on February 10, 1909 she was united in marriage to William T. Barber also of Shawville. In the spring of that year they came to Irma and homesteaded 2 miles north-east of the village and continued to reside in this district ever since. Mrs. Barber had been well known from pioneer days for her hospitality and was a friend to all. She had a great love of flowers and her home was always bright with blossoming plants, but her chief delight was in her family and she will always be remembered as a gentle loving mother. She leaves to mourn her loving husband, three sons, Dennis of Innisfree and Clarence and Harold of Irma. Another son, Gordon, passed away in infancy in 1911. Two daughters, Eleanor (Mrs. Norman Willerton of Fabyan), and Louisa (Mrs. Ervin Prosser) of Irma. Also 9 grandchildren. She passed away suddenly at her home here on Tuesday, Feb. 26. Funeral services were held from the Irma United church on Thursday, February 28 with the Rev. H.W. Inglis in charge. The hymns sung were "Abide With Me," and "Nearer My God To Thee." Pallbearers were Donald McKay, R. Dempsey, Alex Smallwood, D.H. Gunn, F.T. Hill and Roy Burton. Interment was in the Irma cemetery.
