Long continued illness was probably responsible for the deed. She was 40 years old and leaves four children, ranging in ages from 18 months to 16 years. Tacoma Daily News, Oct. 22, 1894 About 11 o'clock Sunday morning Mrs. T.J. Lenover of this place shot herself through the head with a 44 calibre revolver, causing instant death. Mrs. Lenover had been for years a sufferer from catarch and thought of an exceedingly bright and kind disposition could stand it no longer and in a moment of temporary insanity took her own life. In company with her son Ralph she attended the Inter-state Fair Friday last, and appeared to enjoy herself but it is supposed that while there she contracted a cold which gradually settled in her head and proved more than her shattered nerves could bear. Mrs. Lenover was a kind and devoted wife and mother. "None knew her but to love her, Mentioned her but to praise." Her home relations were the most pleasant and her only desire appeared to be the comfort of her husband and family. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Christian church, of which she was a member. Rev. Henry Cogswell officiating, assisted by Rev. G. A. Landen and D.M. Davenport. Mrs. Lenover was one of Sumner's pioneers. She was born at Powder Creek, Oregon in an [covered] wagon on its way from Wisconsin to Washington in 1854. She leaves a husband and four children to mourn her loss, aged 17, 18, 19, and a baby 17 months. She was daughter of Nancy Meeker, sister to Mrs. Jerry Stilley of Marion, Samuel and Lynas Burr of this place..(remaining print is unreadable). Sumner News, Oct. 1894
