Description	:	After a long and useful life, another weary pilgrim has been called to eternal life. Mrs. Hamon, a pioneer of Atchison Co., died Monday evening Nov. 4, 1935. She had been in failing health for some time but had been unusually well the past several months. Mrs. Hamon, a pioneer of Atchison Co., died Monday evening Nov. 4, 1935. She had been in failing health for some time but had been unusually well the past several months. Her death, caused from a weakened condition of the heart, came as a severe shock to family and friends. Mrs. Hamon was born near Des Moines, Iowa, and would have been 80 years old Nov. 18. Her parents, John & Christina Gliem settled 1/2 mile east of Arrington, where Sarah grew to womanhood. On Jan. 4, 1877 she married Malcom Hamon. In 1927 they celebrated their Golden anniversary. To this union six children were born. At the time of her death all of her children were living, also 19 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Mrs. Hamon was one of a family of seven sisters; two survive her, Christina Lewis of Topeka, and Louisa Aikins of Washington. Mrs. Hamon was devoted to her home and loved ones, ever ready to assist others in time of sickness and sorrow. Her daughter, Emma remained at home and cared for her tenderly during her declining years. Funeral services were held from the old home Thursday afternoon at 1:30 by C.H. Kimball. Rev. Eislien of Evangelical church at Coal Creek read the scriptures. Mrs. Al Leutert and Ruth Reichart sang the consoling songs. Pallbearers were: Frank Keller, Charley Reichert, Raymond Reichert, John Clinton, Alvin Hefty, and John Strawn. Interment was in the Farrar cemetery at Valley Falls.
