Sarah Glover was born in Boston, Mass., Jan. 14, 1825, and died at her home in Summit township, Cloud county, Kansas, aged 78 years, 8 months and 23 days. She was married to Thos. A. Minard Jan. 2, 1845, and to this union four children were born, three of whom live to mourn her loss. They are Clara D. Salmon, of Boston, Mass., E.G. Minard, who lives near the old home, and Thos. A. Minard, who has so tenderly cared for her in her declining years and in whose home she died. Mr. and Mrs. Minard moved from Boston to Iowa in 1850, from there to Missouri and then drifted westward with the tide of emigration to Leavenworth county, Kans., in 1855. Grandma Minard was converted at an early age and united with the Baptist church, remaining firm in that faith until her death. She was a loving mother, a good neighbor and a Christian woman, ever firm in her convictions of the right. The funeral took place in the Highland church Oct. 8, conducted by the pastor of the M.E. church of Jamestown. His text was from the 2nd Samuel 14-14: "For we must needs die, neither doth God respect any person; yet doth he devise means that his banished be not expelled from him."
