Her early life was spent here, where she attended school and fitted herself for a teacher. Stebbins was the youngest of five children of Solomon and Mary Brown Dwinell of Glover. She was born April 4, 1833. Her early life was spent here, where she attended school and fitted herself for a teacher. She began the work, but was soon obliged to leave and care for her mother who was in failing health, remaining at home until the death of her mother in 1863. Three years later she was married to E. B. Stebbins, a returned soldier of the Civil war. They went to Eden where they had a pleasant home for sixteen years, until the death of her husband, after which she returned to her native town where the remainder of her life was spent, passing away June 28th, 1916. She was a woman of unusual ability and strength of character and possessed of an uncommonly courageous, and cheerful disposition. Absolutely unselfish and generous, her thoughts went out to the unfortunate and those in trouble, such always found a welcome in her home. She was most loyal to her church and society, ever ready to give of her substance as far as she was able and interested in the welfare of the town in whatever made for its betterment. She leaves to mourn her loss two nephews and a niece in the west, also a nephew and niece with other relatives and friends here. She was a charter member of Mason W. R. C., nearly always holding an office with duties faithfully performed. She will be greatly missed. The funeral was held at her late home, Rev. W. A. Warner, assisted by Rev. G. L. Wells, speaking comfort in words to relatives and all present. At her request the W. R. C. burial service was used at the home, the day being too wet for the service at the cemetery. The flowers spoke of a loving memory." (Orleans County Monitor, 7/121/1916)
