After Albert's death, Sarah Wetherbee married Hezekiah Ford 18 March 1878. He was a Civil War veteran who had served in Co. H, 146th Ohio Infantry. They were the parents of James A. and Jay M. Sarah Isabel Ford married a third time to Louis D. Higley in June of 1926. He was also a veteran of the Civil War. They were listed together on the 1930 census in Burlington, Kansas. Louis was listed as age 84, and Sarah was listed as age 74. The 1900 census lists Sarah's birth in August of 1850. Sarah Ford is listed in the town of Burlington, living alone, in 1920. She is listed as a widow, age 67, born in Arkansas. Her mother's birth place is listed as Maine. This information is from census reports and the Coffey County marriage index. NOTE: The Coffey County marriage index lists Sarah's name as Waltrop in 1870. The California Death Index listing for her son, William, lists his mother's maiden name as Waldrup. It is not yet known which, if either, is correct. ------------ This brief account was printed in Cutler's "History of the State of Kansas," from 1883, in a report of Coffey County casualties. January 29, 1876, Albert Wetherby, whose home was one mile south of Burlington, killed by the accidental discharge of his own gun, on Fall River, while returning home in company with James Martindale.
