Died, in El Dorado, Sunday, October 25, 1903, after a long illness, Sarah Jane, wife of Charles B. Rush, aged 42 years. The deceased was born in Elwood, Ind., April 13, 1861, in which place she remained until fifteen years of age when, in 1876, she came to Kansas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Carey, and located at Burrton, Harvey county. In 1881 she was married to Charles B. Rush and in 1883 removed to El Dorado where they have since resided. Two daughters, Mrs. Vernon Croxton and Miss Mary Rush, with the bereaved husband mourn her loss. Mrs. Rush was a good woman, one universally beloved and respected, for her kindness, sincerity and earnestness of purpose and nobility of character. No call of distress, but that she was quick to respond; no duty presented itself, but that she was ready to fulfill it and her delight was to be doing something to alleviate suffering and brighten surroundings of someone less fortunate than herself. her cheery smile and kind words spread sunshine and dispersed the gloom and many hearts have been lightened and many burdens made easier by coming in contact with her sunny nature. Through eight months and twenty-five days of sickness, a part of the time suffering intensely, she had patiently bourne it all, her chief concern being for her loved ones and friends. In early life she became a member of the Christian church and her life at all times had been consistent with the profession of her youth. She is gone, but leaves an example worthy of emulation and influence to those she has left. yea more than that it goes farther and the world will be better for her having lived. She was a member of Friendship Lodge No. 10 Daughters of Rebekah and at her request the lodge will have charge of the funeral ceremony. She was also a member of El Dorado Council No. 349 Knights & Ladies of Security, in which she carried $1,000 insurance; and she was also a member of the Eastern Star. The funeral of Mrs. Charles B. Rush was held from the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Daughters of Rebekah having charge of the ceremony and she was laid to rest in the West cemetery.
