Description	:	Sarah J. Hanigan was born in Henderson County, Illinois, May 24, 1858, and died August 8, 1918. Read More	Sarah J. Hanigan was born in Henderson County, Illinois, May 24, 1858, and died August 8, 1918. Her early life was passed during the bitter strife of Civil war and she retained vivid memories of the near and dear ones who marched away to offer their lives that the nation might live one and inseparable. Later she removed with her parents to Iowa. After the completion of her school work, she assisted in the domestic duties, and being the eldest child she was more of a mother than a sister to the younger children. On May 8, 1879, she was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to George E. Henney. Of thie union six children survive; Mrs. Mary C. Copps of Burke, S. Dakota; Dr. C.W. Henney of Portage, Wisc.; W.H. Henney of Tilden, Nebraska; Iva, John and Sadie Henney all of Dunlap. Mattie A. preceeded her to the tomb having passed away feb. 3, 1913 and now rests near the mother she adored. During the greater part of her life she resided 9 miles north of Dunlap on the farm with her husband and family to whose happiness and welfare her life was entirely devoted. Her greatest concern was in the happiness of others. In 1911, the family retired to Dunlap, where her remaining days were spent in quiet unaustentatiousness. She lived rather than proclaimed the pure life, and died as she had lived-above reproach. The funeral services were conducted Saturday morning by Rev. Father Hanson at St. Patrick's Church. In words beautifully expressed, he portrayed the life and character of the departed, drawn from an intimate personal knowledge. The sermon was an eloquent exhortation filled with consolation for the bereaved.Interment was made in the family lot in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, 3 sons, 3 daughters, her mother, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, and many relatives and friends to mourn their irreparable loss.
