Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 10th, at two o'clock P.M. at the Cantwell Baptist Church by Rev. R. L. Shell of Bismarck, assisted by Rev. Elmer Polk, pastor of the church, with interment at Doe Run. In 1865, the deceased was united in marriage to John S. Owen, of Waynesboro, Tenn. Seven children came to bless this union - five sons and two daughters. They are James M., who died three years ago in Bismarck; William S., of St. Louis; Thomas Calvin, who died nine years ago in Omaha;J. Frank, of McGirko, and Elbert D., of Moberly; Elizabeth Ann, who died in infancy and Fannie A. (Mrs. Fannie) Hardy, of Cantwell. In 1871, the family moved to Missouri and located in Washington County and later in St. Francois County. Mr. Owen died at Doe Run on Easter Sunday, 1906. Since that time Mrs. Owen has lived with various of her children, having made her home with her daughter in Cantwell for the past several years of her life. She professed a hope in Christ when she was 18 years of age and united with a Baptist church in Tennessee. Since that far off date, she had been a loyal and faithful servant of Christ. She had held membership in the following churches: Old Liberty, in Washington County; Farmington (twice); Old Genevieve, St. Genevieve County; Flat River, Doe Run, Marble Hill, Oran, Esther, Desloge (twice) and Cantwell. Of her sons, four became Baptist deacons and one a Baptist minister. A grandson is also studying for the ministry. Besides the surviving sons and daughter, she leaves one brother, Dee Mosier, of Frankclay. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
