Carmel Hospital. She had been confined in the hospital since suffering a hip fracture in a fall seven weeks ago. Born May 23, 1856, in Ogden Center, Mich., Mrs. Pence was married to Frank Pence there and came to Kansas shortly afterwards at the age of twenty years. Born May 23, 1856, in Ogden Center, Mich., Mrs. Pence was married to Frank Pence there and came to Kansas shortly afterwards at the age of twenty years. The couple settled on a farm in the Maplewood district southwest of Cherokee. They lived there for 50 years. Mr. Pence died two years ago this month. Since her husband's death Mrs. Pence had been making her home with her only daughter, Mrs. W.O. Brenner, Columbus, R.R.3. It was at the daughter's home that she suffered the fall. In addition to the daughter, Mrs. Brenner, she is survived by one son, Leo Pence of Colorado Springs; nine grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mary Hall of Ogden Center, Mich., and two brothers, William and George Patterson, both of Blissfield, Mich. Funeral services were held in the Cherokee Christian church with burial in the Cherokee cemetery.
