Feb 14, 1924 - Word was received here Sunday by the Sheffield family that Mrs. Sadie Van Raden Schwartz, of South Bend, Ind., had passed away Sunday following an auto accident the evening before. The deceased was a sister of Mrs. Fred Sheffield and Mrs. William Colgrove, of Lanesboro, and of John and Sam Freeman, of Lake City, and was well known here, having made this her home for several years. May 8, 1923 she was married to Edward Schwartz of South Bend, and went there to make her home. Mrs. Schwartz was in her 49th year and had always enjoyed good health and her death was a shock to her relatives and friends. February 21, 1924 - The body of Sadie Van Raden Schwartz, of South Bend, Ind., who was seriously injured in an auto accident on the evening of February 9 and lived but 12 hours, passing away February 10, arrived here on Tuesday accompanied by her husband and was taken to the home of her sister Mrs. Fred Sheffield, where it will lie in state until Wednesday afternoon afternoon. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church conducted, by Rev. Spiller and was laid to rest in the East Liberty cemetery near Lidderdale. Six nephews acted as Pallbearers. Mrs. Schwartz was well known here as this had been her home the greater part of her life. She was of a family of 12 children and so far as is known was the first of the family to depart this life, Mr. Schwartz was also badly injured in the head by glass, but was able to accompany the body here for burial. J.E. Schwartz, who had accompanied the body of his wife here for burial, returned to his home in South Bend, Ind., Thursday evening in order to be there for the trial of the parties who caused the accident. Four young people riding in a coupe and out for a good time caused the accident and now face the charge of murder.
