Sarah Jane Hunt, daughter of Zillman and Mary Hunt was born at Gallands Grove, January 1, 1864 and died at a Sioux City hospital Wednesday morning, September 5, at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 4 days. She was united in marriage to Henry C. Purcell December 2, 1883 at Magnolia. She and her companion established their home in Woodbine immediately after marriage and continued their life here until his death in 1926. They were the parents of three daughters, Edna, Opal and Mabel Fern. Opal died in childhood. In 1934, Sadie, as she was known, went to Sioux City to live with her daughter and spent the remaining part of her life in that city. She lives the two daughters, Mrs. Edna E. Poe, and Mrs. Charles C. Miller; two grandchildren, Mrs. Howard D. Thompson and Ervin A. Hutchison and three great grandchildren all of Sioux City; one half-sister, Molly Bolden of Sioux City and one half-brother, Jeff Hunt of Missouri Valley; two full brothers, Henry and Alex Hunt, one full sister, Linda Reynolds. One half-sister, May Booten, preceded her in death. She joined the R. L. D. S. Church in early life. Published in The Dunlap Reporter (Dunlap, Iowa) on Thursday, September 13, 1951 MRS. SARAH JANE PURCELL Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Jane Purcell, 86, 1538 Riverside boulevard, who died Wednesday at a hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints at Woodbine, Iowa. Burial will be in Woodbine cemetery. Mrs. Purcell had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Charles C. Miller, at the Riverside boulevard address. She was born January 1, 1864, at Gallands Grove, Iowa. She has resided here for 18 years. Survivors include another daughter, Mrs. Edna E. Poe of Sioux City, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Reorganized Latter Day Saints church. The body will be sent from the Westcott-Doughty-Chandler funeral home to Woodbine today.
