Littrell, 98, died this afternoon at the Nuckolls County Nursing Home here following a long illness. She was Nelson's oldest citizen, and had lived in this county for 87 years. Mrs. Littrell, the former Sarah J. Wehrman, was born in Christian county (sic), Illinois, on Nov. 20, 1861. She came to Nebraska in the spring of 1872 with her parents, living on farms near Clay Center and on the OxBow in this county before moving that fall to the Wehrman farm west of Nelson. She and Mr. Littrell had observed their 69th wedding anniversary prior to his death in May of 1947. Surviving are five children, Mrs. Edna Jensen, Mrs. Jessie Roberts, Irvin Littrell, Mrs. Verna Eckles and Paul Littrell. Funeral services are to be held at two o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Klawitter Chapel in Nelson. Burial will be made in the Nelson cemetery (sic). The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, January 21, 1960 Sarah Josephine Wehrman, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Wehrman, was born in Christian county (sic), Illinois, on Nov. 20, 1961. She passed away at the Nuckolls County Nursing Home in Nelson on Jan. 21, 1960, at the age of 98 years, 2 months and 1 day. She came west with her parents in 1875 at the age of 13. They settled near Clay Center, then moved to the OxBow on a farm 6 1/2 miles northeast of Nelson. Two years later they moved to the farm west of Nelson where Henry Wehrman now lives. She was united in marriage to Phillip D. Littrell April 27, 1878. To this union was born two sons and three daughters. Mr. Littrell passed away May 24, 1947. She was a charter member of the Nelson Christian Church. She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Mrs. Edna Jensen of Nelson, Mrs. Jessie Roberts of Maxwell, Irvin J. Littrell of Pacific Palisades, Calif., Paul Littrell of Nelson and Mrs. Verna Eckles of Nelson; 19 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren. She was the eldest, and last, of a family of six brothers and one sister. Two great granddaughters also preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the Klawitter Chapel at Nelson, with the Rev. Ewel Vaughan officiating. Burial was made in the Nelson cemetery (sic).
