Description	:	She was the second wife of John Lane (died 1712). Her grave marker is apparently no longer extant. It was apparently still standing as late as 1897. Her marker is reported to have given her age at death as either 83 years or 63 years. Obviously, the former age at death could not be correct as that would place her birth about 1644 and she would have been around sixty years old when her youngest child was born. She was very likely the Sarah Ormsbee [sic] who was born 14 Sep 1665 in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, the daughter of John Ormsby and Grace (Martin) Ormsby (Rehoboth, MA Vital Records, p. 693). The date of birth for Sarah Ormsby would be in keeping with the aforementioned age of death given for Sarah Lane, although (if the same lady) she would have been more accurately 62 years of age, but in her 63rd year. The will of John Ormsby (dated 31 Oct 1717) identifies his daughter Sarah as Sarah Lane. Various records establish John Lane's wife was named Sarah, including records relating to his estate. Although John Lane's will (dated 21 Nov 1712; 9 Apr 1713) does not specifically give the name of his wife, the inventory of his estate, dated 3 Dec 1712, does name Sarah Lane as his widow.
