A graduate of Columbia College, she majored in English and carried throughout her life a love for learning, literature and language. (Probably she would object to the excessive use of passive voice that occurs in the part of this obituary.) In 1942 Sarah Lee married C. L. Abercrombie, Jr. (1915-2004); their son, "Ab" III was born in 1944.
