She had been a resident of Knox County since the spring of 1900. Mrs. Evans had been confined to her bed most of the time in recent years. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at Hengstler's Chapel in Creighton. The Rev. peter Quiring, pastor of the Grace Bible Church, officiated. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Leonard Pahl, Wendell Strope, Mrs. Sam Catterson and Mrs. Peter Quiring, accompanied by Mrs. Leonard Pahl. Burial was in the Orchard Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harry Caskey, Ralph Brookhouser, George Jeffrey, Henry Wellman, Otto Grosse, and Jay LeMasters. Sarah Levada Hartford was born Nov. 8, 1863, at Tabor, Ia. She was united in marriage to Samuel Evans of Octavia on Sept. 25, 1883. Six children were born to them. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Earnest; two sons, Claudius Evans of Creighton and Gordon Evans of Sidney; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister of Battle Ground, Wash., age 94. Preceding her in death were her husband and three children. Julius died in infancy, Frances May at the age of four and Samuel.
