Description	:	KALISPELL - Sally Mills Harball passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Brendan House in Kalispell, at the age of 74. Sally was born and raised in Portland, Ore., the daughter of Abbot Low Mills and Katherine Ainsworth Mills. She was schooled at Westover in Connecticut and Mills College in California. Following World War II she met and married Chuck Harball, a Marine with whom she had been corresponding during the war. Read More	KALISPELL - Sally Mills Harball passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Brendan House in Kalispell, at the age of 74. Sally was born and raised in Portland, Ore., the daughter of Abbot Low Mills and Katherine Ainsworth Mills. She was schooled at Westover in Connecticut and Mills College in California. Following World War II she met and married Chuck Harball, a Marine with whom she had been corresponding during the war. In 1949, they acquired some property in Irvine Flats, west of Polson and there they set about running a ranch and raising three children. Although an active partner in the ranching business, Sally also worked as a secretary for the Polson Public Schools for a number of years. After the children were raised, Sally and Chuck retired from the ranch life and moved to the lake at Big Arm. There she tended to fruit trees, flowers and the wild geese. It was there she began to marshal her writing into books and eventually saw three through publication. She enjoyed singing in the community choir, volunteering at the Polson Library and schools and lunching with her friends. Sally was predeceased by her parents, her sister Terry and her husband Chuck, who passed away in May 2001. She is survived by two brothers, Abbot of Connecticut and Jack of Portland; her daughters, Sally Franceschina and her husband Albert of Annapolis, Md., and their two children, David and Laura, and Kayo Harball and her husband Lyle McBroom of Kalispell and their three children, Kelsi, Karee and K.C.; and son Charlie Harball and his wife Claire of Kalispell and their two children, Elizabeth and Sarah. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Polson, with Father Gary Reller as celebrant. Interment of cremains will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, Polson. Sally's family suggests that donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements and cremation are by Grogan Funeral Home & Crematory of Polson.
