[MrHuber actually wed Abagail] NE--Harlan County Journal...22 Apr 1921 SARAH L BASQUIN passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter MrsHerman Moore early on 13 Apr 1921 being in her 73rd year. She was born in GeaugaCnty OH on 20 Jul 1848 & lived in that state until after her marriage to GeorgeW Parker which occurred 11 Aug 1865. To this union were born 4 children: 3 of whom survive her. They are CharlesA-Alma NE; NinaB Combs-Abbotsford NB Canada & MrsHerman Moore-this city. She came with her husband to Nebraska 48 years ago & settled on a homestead in the south part of Harland Cnty-in PrairieDog Twp. She therefore knew the hardships of the pioneer. She often told her friends of the troubles of pioneering & the days of Indian raids. She also knew some of the sacrifices of war. Her husband, as well as her father & 2 brothers were soldiers in the CivilWar. Her husband passed away about 19 years ago & some years after this she came to Alma, where she has since lived a quiet life. She was a believer in God & though she had not been active in latter years in church work, yet she was ever ready to perform any act of service that came her way. She was especially helpful in times of sickness & has spent many an anxious hour at some sufferers bedside. Her last days were passed in supreme patience. For about 3 weeks she lay upon her bed of affliction without a word of complaint. When she realized that the end was near, she said she was ready when her heavenly father called her & spoke of the time when she would be with her mother & sister in heaven. Besides her 3 children, she leaves a sister living in Seattle, a brother in RockCreek OH; 10 grandchildren & 3 gr grandchdilren & many friends to mourn her loss. Funeral services were conducated from the home Sunday afternoon in charge of EO Sweaney & interment was made in the Alma Cemetery.
