Born October 13, 1951, in Brookside, WV, she was the daughter of the late Walter Ellsworth and Gertrude Jeanette (Walters) Baker. She was also preceded in death by eight brothers, Edward, Leo, Harry, Roger, Bill, James, Bob, Fred; four sisters, Beatrice, Catherine, Dorothy, Edith; grandson, Andrew Scott Fike and great grandson, Ashton Colt DeWitt. Sarah enjoyed canning and baking cookies with her grandchildren and socializing with her many friends and family. Her greatest joy was raising her four daughters and spending time with her grandkids. Sarah was especially close to her granddaughters and will forever be the keeper of their secrets. She loved singing to her children and grandchildren and will be remembered for these special times. She is survived by her four daughters, Anita J. Rhodes and wife, Gail, Oakland, MD; Maria J. Friend, and husband, Carl, Swanton, MD; Janice L. Sweitzer and husband, Bill, Deer Park, MD; Kelly D. DeWitt and husband, Chuck, Swanton; sister, Linda Hefner, Oakland; eight grandchildren, Steven, Sarah, Anissa, Zach, Brittney, Tony, Chucky, Chase; eleven great grandchildren, Bobby, Andrew, Jaelyn, Maverick, Xander, Phenix, Addie, Landon, Emmy, Harlan, Benjamin. Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland, MD, 21550, on Friday, May 14, 2021 from 11:00 -1:00 p.m. Services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Jimmy Bentley officiating. Interment will be in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
