As were her wishes, her body has been Sarah Louise Rogers, daughter of Wilsey and Helen “Baird” Jones, entered this life on October 20, 1928 on a farm near Albia, IA. Read More	Sarah Louise Rogers, 86, of Eldon passed away Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield, IA. As were her wishes, her body has been Sarah Louise Rogers, daughter of Wilsey and Helen “Baird” Jones, entered this life on October 20, 1928 on a farm near Albia, IA. The family lived and farmed on the old Knight place near Eldon. Sarah attended school in Eldon where she graduated with the class of 1946. After graduation she went on to Cosmetology School and became a licensed beautician. She began cutting hair herself, as well as working for Vera Swanson. During this time Sarah married Chris Christensen, and together they had a son, Dan. Sarah and Chris later divorced. She eventually met, and fell in love with Allen Rogers. The two were married in Kirksville, MO. Together Allen and Sarah had two children, Alana and Tim. With the additions to the family, Sarah became a stay at home mom and housewife. This gave her the opportunity to direct her full attention to her three children. She truly loved her role as a mother and wife. Sarah was an avid birdwatcher, especially Cardinals. She was a talented artist who often painted and drew old barns and farm scenery. Sarah had a sense of humor that was greatly appreciated, and even sometimes, unexpected. One of her one-liners or famous quotes could change a quiet room to one of laughter in a matter of seconds. You might have a conversation with her that ended with “Everybody’s crazy ‘cept you and me, and I’m not so sure about you!” In her later years you might catch her saying “Old age ain’t for sissies”. She had a way of bringing out the brighter things in life, and putting a smile on the face of those fortunate enough to know her. She was a firm believer in lifting people up, not tearing them down, often saying “If you must speak ill of someone, write it at the water’s edge and let the waves carry it away”. If she were here with us today she would probably tell everyone another of her favorite quotes, “This too shall pass”. Indeed some of it may, but her memory will remain with those who knew her best. Sarah is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen (2013), and her seven siblings. Those left to share her story are her two sons, one daughter, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends.
