She was married to George Snyder February 22, 1855. They lived in Ohio until March 23, 1870, when they moved to Dallas county, where they have since lived. Garoutte was born in Brown county, Ohio, April 5, 1835, died at the home of her daughter in Lincoln township, Dallas county, April 29, 1917, being aged 82 years and 24 days. She was married to George Snyder February 22, 1855. They lived in Ohio until March 23, 1870, when they moved to Dallas county, where they have since lived. To thisunion were born seven children, six of whom are stil living; Charles M. of Raleigh, N.D., Benjamin, Franklin and Willie M. of Minburn, Iowa, John Wesley, Mrs. Will West and Mrs. Tom Blevons. Besides these she leaves sixteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. Aunt Sarah Snyder, as she was lovingly and fmailiarly known was one whose piety nobody questioned. Her services were not that of trumpet sound but performed in humility, being expressed in the common ministrations of life. A sacrifice too great for her family was unknown and far beyond the home did her kind hospitality extend, the benedictions resulting therefrom not being confined to a small circle nor will they ---. So long as her mind and strength permitted she was always ready to give a helping hand, in her childhood days she united with the Methodist church, her father being a class leader. As a wife and homemaker she wrough well afaithfully, laying the foundation for a home on Iowaprairies when hardships were many and conveniences few, undergoing privation while toiling early and late beside her life companion, who left her five years ago. It was only after many years of hard work and frugal living that they were compelled to retire. As a neighbor she was loved by all who came under the benign touch of her kindly life,while from her toil worn hands proceeded many a ministry to the sick and needyd. In the days ddwhen trained nurses were unknown to our rual communities she made herself invaluable in sickness and sorrow, oft sharing the burden of the anxious mother thru the long vigils of the night when the life of her child was hanging in the balance. But as a mother she has hown herself at her best, having reared six children to maturity, inspiring in them noble ambitions and making possible the attainment of them by providing a trained hand, mind and heart.
