Carson, mention of whose death was made in last week’s Leader, was held from the Methodist Church in Emerson, Wednesday afternoon, January 17, at two o’clock and was conducted by the pastor, Rev. Roy D. Felt, assisted by Rev. M. L. Neill, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. There was a large attendance for Mrs. Carson was well known to many Emerson people and loved and respected by all who knew her. A special choir, Messers Robert Honeyman and I. N. Cheney and Mesdames John Thorson and Guy Harold sang. The remains were laid to rest in the beautiful Emerson Cemeber north of town. The pall bearers were old time friends; R. M. Shipman, Willis Patrick, W. W. Abel, George Gilmore, C. E. Lakin, and James Longshore. The following obituary was given: Sallie M. Tollinger was born in Bridgetown, Pennsylvania March 9, 1870k and died at her home in Denver Colorado, January 14, 1923. In March 1875 she moved with with her parent to Iowa, locating at Emerson, where she grew to womanhood, bright, winsome, and a favorite with all. On September 8, 1893, she was united in marriage with Edward L. Carson. To this union two sons were born, Harold Lester and Harry E. Harold Lester died in infancy. In 1901, they moved to Glenwood where they made their home for twelve years. From there they moved to Tacoma, Washington and eighteen months later to Denver, Colorado, where they have since made their home. When but a girl of twelve ears, she gave her heart to the Lord and on January 15, 1882, she united with the Methodist Church and has ever been a true and faithful member of same, always abounding in good works. Wherever she lived, her good influence was felt by all with whom she came in contact. On Sunday noon, January 14, she was in her usual health when she suffered a stroke of paralysis and she passed out of this life at one-thirty the following morning. The husband and one son accompanied the remains to Emerson arriving here on Tuesday, January 15. Besides her husband and son she is survived by four brothers, William F. of Emerson, Harry M. of Kansas City, Albert V. of Omaha, and John N. of council Bluffs. All were here to attend the funeral except John who is ill. A host of friends in this city sincerely mourn the passing of this good woman.
