Description	:	Mrs. Sarah Melvina (Showalter) Harmon, wife of Miles H. Harmon, was born at Chandlerville, Illinois, February 26, 1870, and died at her home near Sylvia, Kansas, March 20, 1919, at the age of 49 years and 24 days. On September 6, 1887, she was united in marriage to Miles H. Harmon, and to this union were born ten children, three of whom preceded the mother in death. Read More	Mrs. Sarah Melvina (Showalter) Harmon, wife of Miles H. Harmon, was born at Chandlerville, Illinois, February 26, 1870, and died at her home near Sylvia, Kansas, March 20, 1919, at the age of 49 years and 24 days. On September 6, 1887, she was united in marriage to Miles H. Harmon, and to this union were born ten children, three of whom preceded the mother in death. Those living are, Amos, who is serving his country as a soldier in France, Mabel of Dalton, Nebraska, Eddie, Olive, Alice, Edith, and Clarence remaining at home. Mrs. Harmon was a Christian as is known to her family and neighbors. She gave her heart to God and was baptized as a testimony of her faith at the age of nineteen and continued in that faith until her death. She became a member of the Fairview United Brethren church last May during the Taylor meetings. Her life has been consistent as wife, mother, neighbor, and follower of Jesus. Sister Harmon leaves to mourn her departure her husband, the above named children, her aged father and mother (Mr. and Mrs. Amos Showalter), four brothers; C. W. of Othello, Washington, E. A. and G. W. of Sylvia, D. M. of Larned; four sisters: Minnie Barrow of Belpre, Mary E. Huffman and Lillie Hofen of Sylvia, and Bertha Childers of Stafford. These all are commended to the comforting grace of the Heavently Father who said by his Son "let not your hearts be troubled. In my Father's house are many mansions." The funeral services were held from the Harmon home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. C. E. Heisel and assisted by Rev. W. H. Hedden after which the body was laid at rest in the Fairview cemetery.
