Description	:	Sarah Miller Ann Smith was born December 22, 1836, in Oxford, Chester County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of James Nelson and Sarah Miller Ann (McClurg) Smith. She married Benjamin Holstein Bailey on October 4, 1866, in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Benjamin was born June 26, 1843, in Chatham, Chester County, Pennsylvania, the son of William and Mary A. (Holstein) Bailey. Benjamin's ancestors were the first Quakers to come to the colonies from England with William Penn. Benjamin served with the Union Army in the Civil War. Sarah and Benjamin had the following known children: 1. Mary Louise (Bailey) Huston (1867-1955) 2. James Walter Bailey (1870-1930) 3. Harry Ellis Bailey (1873-1879) Benjamin and Sarah along with Benjamin's parents and sisters Sarah Ann (Bailey) Eastwood and Katherine P. (Bailey) Smith (she was married to Sarah's brother), left Chester County, Pennsylvania shortly after Sarah and Benjamin married and moved to Cedar County, Iowa where they stayed for a few years. They then (all except sister Sarah and family) moved to Bratton Union, Nemaha County, Nebraska. From Bratton Union Benjamin and Sarah moved to Brock, Nemaha County, Nebraska where Benjamin was postmaster for over 10 years. Benjamin died March 27, 1916, in Brock, Nemaha County, Nebraksa. Sarah died February 12, 1930, in Brock, Nemaha County, Nebraska. OBITUARY MRS. SARAH M. BAILEY. Mrs. Bailey was born Dec. 22, 1836, at Oxford, Penn, and died Feb 12, 1930, at Brock, Neb., at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. E. Huston, having reached the age of ninety-three years, one month and twenty-two days. She was married to Benjamin H. Bailey, Oct. 4, 1866. She is survived by two children, Mrs. Louise Huston of Brock, J. W. Bailey of Lincoln, one brother, James Smith of Irving, Kas., six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Bailey moved from Pennsylvania to Nebraska in 1871 where they resided near Humboldt. In 1883 they moved to Brock where she lived till her death. Mr. Bailey having passed away March 27, 1916. She united with the church at the age of fifteen and has been a devoted member ever since. She was a charter member of Trestle Board chapter No. 67, Order of the Eastern Star at Brock. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. Mr. Embree, assisted by Brother Davis at the Methodist church at 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by the Eastern Star services at the Lafayette cemetery where she was laid to rest beside her husband.
